Ford Fiesta ST
Ford Fiesta ST
Ford's new entry into the small hot hatch sector is proving a
success. Fine handling and a lovely 1999cc 4 cylinder engine provide the
basics needed for enjoyable driving. In standard form it offers a great
all round package at a reasonable price. It boasts a 0-60 time of around 8
seconds, which means that it's not as fast as the Mini Cooper S for example, but
on the other hand its list price of well under 14,000 represents a significant
saving compared to the small BMW. The performance of the new Ford is
almost identical to the similarly priced SEAT Ibiza FR. Both the Ford and
the SEAT will cost a similar amount to insure having a group 13 rating, compared
with the Group 15 that is associated with the Cooper S.
So the Fiesta ST price is keen, the cost of insurance
shouldn't be excessive and it certainly looks the part. We think that Ford
could have produced a winner with the new ST.
Fans of hot Fords were really hoping that Ford would actually
release the awesome Fiesta RS Concept, though there's no certainty at this time
that the hotter hot hatch will become a production reality.
Ford Fiesta RS - the ST's big
brother
In the mean time the Fiesta
ST is a reasonably good substitute, and
it's price certainly won't put off the buyers. The new little Ford is a
really enjoyable car - and one that you can have some fun in without burning a
huge hole in your pocket.
