Ford continue to lead the UK Car Sales chart having sold 193,000 vehicles in the UK in the first six months of 2005. The company have retained their market share of approximately 15% of the UK market. The UK new car market is down almost 6% for the first six months of the year and Ford's sales are therefore down by a similar percentage. Sales are around 4,000 vehicles a month greater than those of rival Vauxhall who are currently selling around 30,000 cars per month.
Ford's success of course is at least in part due to the fact that the Ford Focus continues to be the best selling car in the UK. About 12,000 Focuses a month are leaving the dealers' forecourts keeping sales of Ford's biggest seller ahead of the Vauxhall Astra and Vauxhall Corsa which are the second and third best selling cars in the country.
Ford also contend well in the supermini and convertible classes. With the summer upon us, the Ford Ka is the 7th best selling convertible in the country which is most impressive given the recent launch of the new Vauxhall Tigra (currently in 9th place in the UK convertible charts).
7th best selling Convertible in the UK
In the supermini class, Ford's Fiesta is currently in second place to Vauxhall's Corsa with the Peugeot 206 and Renault Clio clipping at its heels. BMW's Mini is in 5th place in this chart. Ford also have 7th place in this chart with the Ford Ka.
Ford keep their sales levels so high by offering a wide range of vehicles at keen prices, and of course offer a number of deals on new cars. Use the links below to find great deals on Ford cars, including low interest rates.
Ford's top selling Focus is part of a huge range of cars from the 1.3Ka which costs a shade over 7000 on the road right up to the big Galaxy people carrier. In between, the Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo have more recently been joined by the Fusion and C-Max. Within each range of models, the company offer a wide range of trims and engine sizes.
The Mondeo range offers the largest number of variants from the 1.8LX which costs just 16,000 through to the 2.5 litre V6 Ghia X models which offer all the creature comforts at a premium of about 50% over the cost of the base model. The range also includes a 3 litre V6 Mondeo ST 220 which offers over 200bhp at a list price of about 25,000; compared to the price of the premium German brands this looks like great value for money, though there are still savings to be made on this price; we've seen discounts of between 10 and 20% on these flagship models for the dedicated buyer.
