2002 Ford Focus C-Max Concept
The 2004 Ford Focus CMax started life as a concept that
would lead the way for the development of the new Ford Focus. We
snapped this one at the 2002 Motorshow in Birmingham.
The production version of the new Focus is the first to be
built on the revised platform that will be the basis of all new Focuses over
the next few years. And the new chassis is already gaining praise for
being stiffer and hence more stable than that of the outgoing
models.
Although Ford had until now resisted the urge to produce a
mini-MPV they've now suddenly arrived on the scene with a bang. Thanks
to the quality of the new Focus platform the car handles very much like a
smaller vehicle than it actually is; you get that extra height over the
already tall Focus saloon, hatch or estate, but don't seem to have to pay a
price in terms of driveability.
The new car is immediately available with a good range of
engines, from the 1.8 16V Duratec which has a 0-60 time of 10.8 seconds and
an emissions rating of 170 gm/km.
Though the star of the range could well be the 6 Speed
Duratorq TDCi engine which is the excellent new 2.0l PAS high performance Diesel
which producing 136bhp. The TDCi has a top speed of 124mph, a 0-60
time of 9.6 seconds and an emissions rating of 148 gm/km.
Prices are set to make an impact with the C-Max Zetec
1.8l 3dr set at 15,200
Ford are also offering a deal that gives you a year's supply
of Diesel on the C-Max TDCi, or alternatively a 1,250 deposit allowance on
all petrol models.
