The 2003 Porsche Boxster S has a 3179cc flat six boxer 24 valve engine, which delivers a healthy 260 bhp. It offers a 0-60 time of 5.7 seconds, a top speed of 164 mph, and yet has an insurance group of 19. With an average fuel consumption of 26.9 mpg, a CO2 rating of 255 g/km the Boxster S isn't the cheapest car to run.. Like all Porsches, the Boxster benefits from legendary build quality and great residuals.

It's a tough decision choosing between the different Boxsters. While the S offers that extra power and a few goodies like air conditioning, better brakes and partial leather seats, the regular Boxster is significantly cheaper, and provides a better fuel economy; important for those lucky few who have company Boxsters. And then there's the excellent new Boxster 550 which may cost even more than the S, but it is going to be relatively unique, and its list of 'free' options is well worth the extra cost.
