This year Pudsey Carnival were delighted to offer a limited number of sheltered pitches to local charitable organisations thanks to Pudsey Civic Society funding a marquee. A spokesperson for the Society said 'We aim to support the rich heritage of the old Pudsey Borough alongside its present and future interests and Pudsey Carnival has a long tradition enjoyed by the entire community. The marquee will enable new groups to showcase their voluntary work to the thousands who attend.'

Topping the Bill were Dingle Fingle's Clown Town CrimeWatch. Help him catch Slippery Sid the classic car thief.

Also sponsoring the event were Lindley Clough, a local firm of solicitors based in Lowtown, Marks and Spencer, Asda and JCT600.

A total of £460 was collected during the 2008 Pudsey Carnival Parade. The Pudsey branch of the RSPCA received a cheque for £250. Margaret Kay received the cheque from Carnival Queen Lauren Prince outside the Lidgett Hill branch in July.

The Friends of the RSPCA were also on hand with their dogs. They also took part in the carnival parade.

Another cheque for £250 was sent to the Leeds Branch of the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmens Families Association because they were unable to attend.

SSAFA provide support for the serving men and women in today's Armed Forces and for those who have served - even if it was only for a single day. They also care for the needs of their families and dependants.
