Braintree celebrated its 51st annual carnival in 2014.

Attractions in the main arena included Jez Avery Stunt Legend, the Essex Caledonian Pipe Band and Bands from the Braintree College. Also, around the field will be the usual fun fair and selection of stalls. Unfortunately the Golden Dragon Kung Fu Dane Team were unable to attend.

Full details are still being finalised. We hope to see Punch and Judy at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm, Face Painting, Bouncy Castle, Soft Play Area, Play Bus, Penalty shoot-out Competition, Baby Changing and Feeding and much much more.

You can take part in the carnival in a number of ways:

• Enter a float or simply walk in the procession.
• Enter the Carnival Queen or Princess competitions.
• Hire a pitch but hurry as only a limited number of spaces are available.
• Enter the Window Display competition.
