| Toyota Celica Bonnet Vent |
The Celica 205 GT4s (and the some of the later 185 GT4s) had exit vents in their bonnets to take heat away from turbo and to prevent it reaching the Water to Air Intercooler fitted on these cars.
Commonly this style of bonnet is referred to as a Carlos Sainz as it was employed by Toyota on the Carlos Sainz (or CS) versions of the Celica GT4 ST185 (and its Japanese equivalent the RC - Rally Car). These cars were fitted with a WtoA intercooler instead of the Air to Air coolers fitted on the earlier GT4s. This design was carried over to the car shown above - the ST205 or third generation GT4 (which were the 4WD equivalents of the 6th Generation 2WD Celicas). | | The smaller vent to the left of the large apperture is a duct which provides cooling to the cam belt, and there are also two other smaller vents in the bonnet (one of these is just visible in the picture above).
