Vauxhall FLV (Future Large Vehicle)
|
Vauxhall have been releasing some exciting new cars over the last few years, and the trend looks set to continue with the cars they are about to release. We particularly like the look of the new large vehicle they have in the pipeline - the FLV.
Despite the quality, pracicality and driveability of Vauxhall's last Omega, the company were never able to sell the volumes they wished in the face of tough competition from the premium brands. | | Rather than release a new Omega, Vauxhall cleverly opted to come up with a different solution in the shape of the Signum, and it looks like they're going to follow that with a new large car that incorporates the best of the features from several different types of large car. To an extent, this is what Mercedes have already done with their new R-Class which has some of the features of a large MPV, combined with limited off road capabilities. Vauxhall clearly believe there is room for more vehicles in that new sector which some are calling 'CrossOver'. | | We suspect they're probably right; few buyers of MPVs really need a vehicle with the off road capabilities of a Range Rover or Porsche Cayenne. Rather they want something big on the inside, and sturdy looking on the outside. Sure they like the flexibility that 4x4 gives, and the reduced risk of being stuck in bad weather that an off roader offers, but most buyers aren't planning on tackling any off road assault courses. | | Buyers are also looking for the prestige factor of these vehicles, so for many buyers the new Vauxhall's going to have to be good to tempt them out of their Mercedes or Range Rover, but undoubtedly Vauxhall will offer a good package at a keen price so there should be no shortage of buyers for the new vehicle.
